Summary of Goals & Plans
for RC Bali Ubud 2007-2008

 


MEMBERSHIP


Club Goal:

40 members by 30 June 2008 (from 36 end June 2007)

Presidential Citation Goals

  • a net increase of one member by 31 March 2008 (required)
  • Give formal recognition to any club member who recruits more than one new member by 31 March 2008
  • Report new members monthly to RI by using Member Access on the RI Web site (www.rotary.org)

Plans:

Get more members who:

  • Are fluent in English
  • Care about Bali
  • Are helpful
  • Are reliable and responsible
  • Participate in RC Ubud actively

Action steps:

  • Update our classification survey by 31 Jan 08
  • Identify sources of potential members within the community by 31 Jan 08
  • Update information brochures (working with Public Relations Committee).
  • Remind and encourage current members to invite people as “guests”, not as “new members”; Remind current members that there are requirements, expectations, and responsibilities to membership – it is not automatic that a guest will be inducted as a member.
  • Formalize new member orientation – providing pre-application information and post-acceptance welcome packages.
  • Form a “Friends of Rotary” group for non-members who wish to participate, perhaps in specific activities or in fund-raising.

SERVICE


Club Goals:

Service Projects for our local community:

  • waste treatment / recycling
  • elementary school literacy
  • wheel chairs
  • clean drinking water

Presidential Citation Goals

Club Service

  • Ensure that every Rotarian in our club is personally invited to participate in club activities, whether it be serving on a project committee or taking responsibility for some aspect of club service.
  • Invite a speaker from a local nongovernmental organization, or present a club program on the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (www.un.org/millenniumgoals).

Vocational Service

  • Present all new club members with a copy of The Four- Way Test or the Declaration of Rotarians in Businesses and Professions (200-EN).
  • Have at least one member provide an internship at his or her place of business to a high school or college student.

Community Service

  • Conduct a water project in our community.
  • Sponsor or participate in a community literacy project.

International Service

  • Support or register a project on the World Community Service Projects Exchange.
  • Seek a Rotary Foundation Matching Grant or Health, Hunger and Humanity (3-H) Grant for a water, health, or literacy project.

Plans:

Continue focus on the following projects:

  • waste treatment / recycling
  • elementary school literacy
  • wheel chairs
  • clean drinking water

Action steps:

  • Conduct or obtain a needs assessment of the community re: clean drinking water
  • Set policy and ground rules for future Clean Drinking Water project(s)
  • Add appropriate projects to the World Community Service (WCS) database

THE ROTARY FOUNDATION


Club Goals:

  • Annual Programs Fund contribution goal is $6000 for 2007-8.
  • Permanent Fund contribution goal is $5000 for 2007-8.

Plans:

Something (to be determined) around Valentine’s Day – February 14, 2008.

Action steps:

  • Continue offering the option of progressive monthly payments system for Sustaining Member contributions
  • Select a Sub-Committee Chairperson for local Fun / Fund Raising

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT


Club Goal:

Attend English language assemblies in Bali

Presidential Citation Goals

Youth

  • Sponsor a participant in a Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) event.

Plans:

  • Have the president-elect attend PETS and the district assembly
  • Encourage interested past presidents to attend the district leadership seminar
  • Encourage new members to assume positions of leadership through participation in club committees
  • Ask club members to visit other clubs to exchange ideas and share what they learn with the club

Action steps:

  • Attend English-language assemblies in Bali

PUBLIC RELATIONS


Club Goals:

  • Produce and distribute 6 press releases
  • Identify and invite 2 media representatives to club meetings / events

Plans:

  • Publicize project activities via Rotary website using Rotary info formats.
  • Add names of interested parties to the Bulletin distribution list.
  • Encourage Ubud club members to talk with visitors at club meetings about club projects.
  • Update ‘guests’ brochure to include info about the club and current/planned club projects.

Action steps:

  • Write at least 3 pieces about club activities and distribute to media for possible publication.
    Identify and invite media representatives

CLUB ADMINISTRATION


Club Goals:

  • Hold a club assembly on Leadership in October 2007
  • Prepare club budget for 2008-9 by March 2008

Plans:

  • Maintain website as repository of Club knowledge base
  • Organize offsite backup of Financial data
  • Organise distribution and archive of Board minutes
  • Investigate e-Rotary club attendance for absent members
  • Prepare for next year handover by mid-June; prepare checklist
  • A club bulletin will be produced to provide information to club members.
  • Plan the following events:
  • o Christmas Dinner
  • o Joint Club meeting
  • o Handover Dinner approx June 30, 2008

Action steps:

  • Schedule club assembly for October 2007 on Club Planning & Leadership.
  • Hold Club elections on 11-Dec-2007.
  • Prepare Club budget and adjust annual membership fees to match
  • Complete position descriptions for committees / subcommittees and fill all necessary positions; verify a backup for each position
